The Next Thing. . .

I think following God sometimes isn’t about big grand things, but just the next thing He asks us to do. It’s not about making a big splash, being seen and noticed, some great sacrifice or huge effort. It’s just about doing what He asks, even if it’s a little thing.  Doesn’t mean it’s always easy. May or may not be obvious. But we need to not shrink back from what He asks, even if we’re afraid or it’s something uncomfortable. Because He’s always with us to give us the strength we need and can do amazing things working through us.

It’s about taking one step at a time.   Being obedient to Him and his leading.  Maybe it’s a kind word or gesture, or sometimes just listening to someone, really listening to them.  Or being bold and talking to someone He points out to you.  Or doing something for someone else, meeting a need.   It can be giving someone a gift you know they need, even anonymously.  Helping someone even in a small way.  We need to be sharing His love. I’ve heard it said, there’s enough love to go around, we just gotta share it. There are lots of different ways to do that.  Several ways of telling and showing someone He loves them.  We just need to listen and follow His nudges. Listening to that small voice, the impressions get from His Holy Spirit. Sometimes it’s really as simple as doing the very next thing. . .
